Frye Art Museum Acquires Works by Three Indigenous Artists via Assembly Art Fair Partnership

Through a new collaboration with Assembly Art Fair, the Frye Art Museum in Seattle has added three artworks to its collection, marking the first inclusion of pieces by Carly Feddersen, Joe Feddersen, and Marie Watt. The acquisitions were facilitated by the Lele Barnett Acquisition Fund and chosen by Faith Brower, the museum's Director and Curator of Collections. The collection features woven sculptures from Joe and Carly Feddersen, who are part of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation, blending Indigenous heritage with modern artistic expressions. Additionally, Marie Watt, a member of the Seneca Nation of Indians, is represented. These acquisitions highlight the Frye's dedication to uplifting Pacific Northwest artists and engaging in contemporary art discussions.
