Front and Moroso turn 3D perspective drawings into furniture at Milan design week

architecture-design · 2026-04-27

Swedish studio Front and Italian brand Moroso unveiled Geometriæ, a furniture collection at Milan design week, presented from 19 to 25 April 2026 at Colombo's Gallery in Brera. The collection features intersecting cuboids and cylinders upholstered in woven jacquard textiles that replicate hand-drawn light and shadow effects of 3D perspective drawings. Two variations exist: Graphite, mimicking pencil sketchiness, and Acquerello, imitating watercolour colour transitions. The effect creates a subtle tension between physical form and perception. Front founders Sofia Lagerkvist and Anna Lindgren led the project, which stemmed from self-initiated research into geometric purity as a counter to their previous Design by Nature series. They studied arrangements under different lighting and worked with Moroso's weavers to create bespoke textiles. Neither Lagerkvist nor Lindgren had worked in watercolour before. The collection continues Front's collaboration with Moroso, led by Patrizia Moroso, which began with the optical-illusion Moment series in 2009. Front also contributed the high-back Diorama chair to Moroso's new collection, shown alongside Patricia Urquiola's Cuadra sofa. Exhibition photography by Lorenzo Bacci; other photography by Massimo Gardone-Azimut.
