Frieze annuncia la prima fiera asiatica a Seoul per settembre 2022
Frieze organizzerà la sua prima fiera asiatica a Seoul nel settembre 2022, segnando una significativa espansione per la società di eventi. La fiera si terrà al COEX nel distretto di Gangnam a Seoul e si svolgerà in contemporanea con Kiaf Art Seoul, con cui Frieze collaborerà. Per la prima edizione sono previsti circa cento espositori. Frieze ha stretto una partnership con la Galleries Association of Korea per organizzare l'evento. Dal-Seung Hwang, presidente della Galleries Association of Korea, ha dichiarato che la collaborazione confermerà Seoul come hub globale del mercato dell'arte e la Corea del Sud come importante destinazione asiatica. L'annuncio arriva in un periodo difficile per le fiere d'arte, con Art Basel e UBS che hanno riportato il 61% degli eventi cancellati lo scorso anno. Un sondaggio ha indicato che il 40% delle gallerie ritiene che le vendite nelle fiere continueranno a diminuire, sebbene i galleristi asiatici, in particolare in Cina, siano più ottimisti, con il 54% dei galleristi cinesi che prevede un aumento delle vendite. L'Asia, escludendo Cina e India, rappresenta il 7% dei miliardari mondiali. Frieze attualmente gestisce fiere a Londra, New York e Los Angeles.
