Frieze New York: Marble underwear, $150 mystery works, and Lucy Liu's art

At Frieze New York, the Iranian gallery Dastan showcases marble underwear by Reza Aramesh, a London-based artist. These pieces, made from Carrara marble, symbolize the final garment discarded before donning prison attire. Each item, including Action 473 Lefortovo Prison 23 April Progression #226, features the detention center name inscribed on the underside. In 2024, Aramesh exhibited 207 similar works at a church in Venice. Meanwhile, the Rema Hort Mann Fund is hosting a charity sale at the Tribeca residence of Susan and Michael Hort, featuring art by Elizabeth Peyton and Michaël Borremans. The "Buy What You Love" section includes $150 works on paper by anonymous artist friends, with proceeds benefiting emerging-artist initiatives and cancer grants. This sale has been ongoing for 30 years. Additionally, actor Lucy Liu is presenting a show titled Hard Feelings at Alisan Fine Arts on the Upper East Side, which runs until 6 June. The exhibition features paintings that delve into memory, family history, and emotional introspection, including the serene portrait Make Haste Slowly (2026). Liu notes that the works aim to eliminate the tendency to reinterpret the past.
