Frieze New York 2021 Adopts Hybrid Format with Brazilian Galleries and Vision & Justice Tribute
From May 5 to 11, 2021, Frieze New York will take place, marking the city's first in-person art fair since the onset of the pandemic. This event adopts a hybrid format, featuring physical displays at The Shed in Manhattan alongside online viewing rooms. With nearly 60 exhibitors participating, a decrease from 190, the fair engages with the ways art challenges visual representation narratives, paying tribute to the Vision & Justice Project and its founder, Sarah Elizabeth Lewis. Gallerist Tanya Bonakdar describes the atmosphere as resembling "more like a local fair." Brazilian galleries, such as Mendes Wood DM and Nara Roesler, will also be involved. Attendees must present proof of a negative Covid-19 test or vaccination for in-person attendance.
