Frieze New York 2020 Canceled Due to Coronavirus
Frieze New York, scheduled for May 6-10 on Randall's Island, has been canceled for 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Organizers announced the cancellation in a letter to exhibitors from global director Victoria Siddall, New York director Loring Randolph, and deputy director Kristell Chadé, citing health concerns and government restrictions. Exhibitors will be refunded. The decision follows New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio's ban on gatherings of over 500 people. TEFAF New York Spring, originally set for May 8-11, has been postponed to October 31-November 4, replacing the fall edition. Many US museums, including the Met, have closed indefinitely. Art Basel in Basel (June 18-21) is considering postponement to autumn, while Masterpiece London (June 25-July 1) has not yet announced changes.
