Frieze and Deutsche Bank Launch 'The Art of Conversation' in Italy
Frieze and Deutsche Bank have launched 'The Art of Conversation', a new format of talks focusing on Italian contemporary art. The series debuted at the 59th Venice Biennale at TBA-21 Academy's Ocean Space in Venice, and will continue across Italian cities throughout 2022. The initiative aims to foster dialogue on pressing issues in contemporary art, involving institutions, artists, and collectors. Nathan Clements-Gillespie, director of Frieze Masters, noted this marks the first collaboration between Frieze and Deutsche Bank outside their fairs, and Frieze's first event series in Italy. Roberto Parazzini, Chief Country Officer Italy at Deutsche Bank, emphasized the opportunity to bring together leading artists and experts. The inaugural talk focused on two exhibitions at Ocean Space: solo shows by Dineo Seshee Bopape (addressing the Solomon Islands, Mississippi plantations, Jamaica, and South Africa) and Diana Policarpo (centered on the Ilhas Selvagens archipelago in the North Atlantic, administered by Portugal). Both exhibitions explore the ocean's narrative potential.
