Friedrich Kunath presents new paintings and sculpture in Paris exhibition

Friedrich Kunath's solo exhibition 'On A Clear Day I Can See You Forever' opens at Galerie Max Hetzler in Paris on March 7, 2026, running through May 16, 2026. This marks his third show with the gallery and his first in their Paris space. The German-born artist works across painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, and video, describing himself as a composer of images. Kunath builds dense narratives and rich pictorial worlds inspired by personal history, music, German Romanticism, and pop culture. His creative process begins with emotional impulses that unfold through painting. Working in layers, he starts with thick impasto backgrounds, then adds small drawings, annotations, phone numbers, to-do lists, song lyrics, and other fragments capturing fleeting thoughts and emotions. Once this initial layer hardens, another image is painted over it. These buried details invite slow, reflective observation, revealing cathartic elements that reflect the unconscious part of his creative process. The exhibition features new paintings and a sculpture. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10am to 6pm, and Saturday from 11am to 7pm.
