During the evening auction of impressionist and modern art at Christie's New York, Frida Kahlo's 1939 oil on board piece, "Dos desnudos en el bosque (La tierra misma)," measuring 25 x 30 cm, fetched over $8 million. This sale marked a personal high for Kahlo and established new records for both a Latin American artist and a female artist. The artwork, previously gifted by Kahlo to actress Dolores del Rio, was displayed last year at the New York Botanical Garden. Barbara Hepworth's "Sculpture with Colour (Eos)" attracted intense bidding, ultimately selling for $5,429,000 to a collector in Hong Kong, significantly surpassing its $1.2-1.8 million estimate. Other notable sales included Claude Monet's "Le Bassin aux Nympheas" at $27 million, Amedeo Modigliani's "Jeune femme à la rose (Margherita)" at $12.8 million, and Monet's "Au Petit-Gennevilliers" at $11.4 million.
