Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera's Former SF Apartment Building Listed for $8M

The Hoeffler Building at 36-52 Calhoun Terrace in San Francisco, once home to Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera from 1939 to 1940, has been listed for $8 million. The 11-residence property, built in the late 1930s, features private outdoor spaces with bay and skyline views. Rivera created the mural 'Pan American Unity' while living in Unit 42; the mural is currently stored at City College of San Francisco and destined for the new Diego Rivera Performing Arts Center on CCSF's Ocean Campus, which broke ground earlier this year. The building, described by listing agent Jean-Paul Samaha as a premier trophy property, has appeared in films like 'The Sniper' (1952) and is the only other structure on lower Calhoun Terrace besides Richard Neutra's Kahn House.
