Freudian Typo: Ghazaleh Avarzamani and Ali Ahadi at Hayward Gallery

exhibition · 2026-04-23

This summer, the Hayward Gallery in London teams up with the RC Foundation from Taiwan to present "Freudian Typo," featuring Iranian-Canadian artists Ghazaleh Avarzamani and Ali Ahadi. The exhibition examines Britain's imperial past while addressing current issues, linking historical events to today's political and economic climate. It explores English nursery rhymes, like "The Old Woman and Her Pig," with a focus on themes such as debt and exploitation. Among the exhibits is a hyper-realistic sculpture of Palmerston, the former Chief Mouser at the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office, alongside a digital sign reading "Truth and Reconsolidation." This is the third installment in the RC Foundation Project Space Exhibition Series. Concurrently, Avarzamani and Ahadi will be featured at the Delfina Foundation, with Senior Curator Yung Ma highlighting the exhibition's commentary on the global economy, curated by Thomas Sutton.
