French translation of Jonathan Sterne's 'The Audible Past' published

Twelve years after its original publication by Duke University Press, the French translation of Jonathan Sterne's 'The Audible Past: Cultural Origins of Sound Reproduction' has been released. Titled 'Une histoire de la modernité sonore', the book is published by La Découverte/La Rue musicale and translated by Maxime Boidy. The work examines the cultural origins of sound reproduction technologies. The translation was reviewed in artpress n°428, December 2015, p. 76.
