French road safety group sues laughing gas suppliers over deceptive youth marketing

On Wednesday, the Antoine Alleno Association, which focuses on road safety and is led by renowned chef Yannick Alleno, initiated legal proceedings against firms promoting nitrous oxide. The lawsuit targets companies from China and Poland associated with Cream Deluxe, known for their vibrant canisters marketed as "the key to an unforgettable evening." Alleno's organization claims these businesses employ misleading advertising aimed at younger audiences, despite the serious public health consequences, such as mobility loss, burns, and accidents. Filed in a Paris court, the suit aims to prohibit these companies from operating in France and to recover legal expenses. Last year, nitrous oxide was linked to over 450 serious road incidents in France, a number that has surged by 40 times in six years, according to 40 Million Motorists. Alleno established the association following the tragic death of his son by a speeding driver in 2022, focusing on dishonest marketing practices targeting youth.
