Edgar Morin, the French philosopher and sociologist who pioneered complex thought theory, died at 104. His family announced the news to Le Monde on Saturday. Born in Paris on July 8, 1921, to a Sephardic Jewish family from Thessaloniki with distant Italian and Spanish roots, Morin joined the Communist Party and fought in the Resistance.
