French Design Icons at Institut Français Milano for Salone del Mobile

exhibition · 2026-05-05

To celebrate 40 years of VIA, the French organization promoting furniture innovation, a multidisciplinary committee selected 40 iconic objects representing French design. The exhibition "No Taste for Bad Taste" is staged at the Institut Français Milano during Fuori Salone, open until May 13. The 40 pieces are grouped in ten tents symbolizing ten core values of French design, with set design by Valerie Valembras-Dahirel and a bleu-blanc-rouge scenography by Jean-Charles de Castelbajac. The committee includes designers Matali Crasset, Mathieu Lehanneur, Patrick Jouin, industrialists, museum representatives like Paola Antonelli and Marva Griffin, and journalists. The show will travel to over twenty countries starting in June to promote the French furniture industry worldwide.
