French Artist Launches Home Exhibitions as Museums Remain Closed
Italy has reopened its museums and galleries in yellow zones, whereas France's cultural venues will remain closed until May 19. In response, French artist Olivier Masmonteil has initiated 'Une œuvre à la maison' (An artwork at home), facilitating exhibitions in private homes. This initiative has attracted over 200 participants, including renowned entities like Galerie Paris-Beijing, Galerie Les filles du calvaire, and mega-gallery Perrotin. Collectors are also contributing by lending artworks. Managed by Dezarts agency and Studio Masmonteil, with insurance from APPIA Art & Assurance, the project permits individuals to showcase art for up to two months, although pieces cannot be transported beyond 10 kilometers due to restrictions. Participation is free, with artists responsible for delivery and collection. The selection process hinges on expressing admiration for the artwork, fostering unique connections between art, artists, and the audience.
