Free app OperaGuide launches for Florence's Museo dell'Opera del Duomo
Starting January 12, the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo in Florence will introduce a free app called OperaGuide, available in both Italian and English. This app includes audio tours voiced by a professional actress, providing details about the artworks’ stories, histories, creators, patrons, significance, and symbolism. It also features an interactive map for easy navigation. Users can opt for either a 2-hour and 15-minute extensive tour of 225 pieces or a shorter 'Per Sommi Capi' tour that lasts 1 hour and highlights 26 artworks. Developed with Adiacent and Orbital Cultura, the app is designed to link with other sites in Piazza Duomo. The museum showcases important medieval and Renaissance sculptures from artists like Michelangelo and Donatello, following renovations completed in late 2015.
