Fred Forest publishes world's first dialogue with AI as co-author at age 93

At 93, French artist Fred Forest—a pioneer of video art, sociological art, and communication aesthetics—has published an unprecedented book co-authored with an AI, marking the first time an artificial intelligence is recognized as an active partner in thought, critical dialogue, and creation rather than a mere tool. The work, titled as a dialogue between Forest and ChatGPT, explores themes including algorithmic transformation of art, crisis of cultural institutions, platform control of narratives, erasure of artistic memories, human consciousness versus AI, and new forms of shared authorship. Forest, who anticipated virtual realities, social networks, and digital interactivity since the 1970s, positions this publication as a radical encounter between a critical artist and an AI capable of analyzing, arguing, and accompanying free thought outside traditional cultural authority.
