other · 2026-05-04

Damiano and Fabio D’Innocenzo, known as the Fratelli D’Innocenzo, make their feature film debut with 'La terra dell’abbastanza', a peripheral crime drama. The film premiered in the Panorama section of the Berlin International Film Festival and was released in Italian theaters on June 7 via Adler. The story follows two friends, Mirco (Matteo Olivetti) and Manolo (Andrea Carpenzano), who accidentally hit a local mob boss and are pushed by Manolo’s father (Max Tortora) to turn the incident into a chance for social ascent. The film draws inspiration from Pasolini, Zavattini, and Rossellini's 'Paisà', and is described as a non-judgmental portrayal of 'the hell of the living'. The directors cite Italo Calvino's 'Invisible Cities' to explain their intent to depict life's struggles. The cast also includes Milena Mancini as Mirco’s mother. The film has been noted for its fresh approach, avoiding banality, and has been compared to Claudio Caligari's 'Non essere cattivo'.
