Franz Egon von Fürstenberg's 'Photographing Art' Reveals Behind-the-Scenes of the Art World

Franz Egon von Fürstenberg, who is married to curator Adelina von Fürstenberg, released 'Photographing Art' (Skira, Milan 2022), which showcases 250 photographs sourced from a collection of over 20,000 negatives and 2,000 slides. The book provides an intimate glimpse into moments with artists such as Alighiero Boetti, Vito Acconci, Marina Abramović, Andy Warhol, Joseph Beuys, and Michelangelo Pistoletto during exhibitions organized by his wife. Captured in an unposed manner, these images stand in stark contrast to the modern trend of selfies. The curation process began in lockdown, first with a young photographer and later with Alessandra Mammì. Von Fürstenberg emphasizes the pleasure of listening and treasures a portrait of Beuys, stating, 'Art is forever,' and finds the creation process more fascinating than openings, including images of wildlife and nature.
