Frankfurt Students Build Mobile Voting Booth with Timber Frame and Climbable Platforms

There’s a new mobile voting booth set up outside the Museum of Applied Arts in Frankfurt, Germany, thanks to some talented architecture students from Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences. This installation is part of the World Design Capital Frankfurt RheinMain 2026 project. It features a lightweight wooden structure with unique corrugated panels that mix opaque metal and clear plastic, resulting in interesting light effects. Called the 'Design Voting Booth,' the project was developed by students in the Master’s programs in Advanced Architecture and Architecture, led by Julian Busch and Ruth Schlögl. The design team included Abdullah Khaleel, Cristina Iachimov, and Lakal Piyarathna, with support from Kimia Bahrami and others. The booth is designed to be easily assembled and disassembled, making it a flexible solution for participatory spaces.
