Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture at Taliesin to Close by June

The Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture at Taliesin will close by the end of June 2020, following a breakdown in negotiations with the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation over funding. Founded in 1932 by Frank Lloyd Wright and his wife Olgivanna, the school operated on the principle of "learning by doing" with a multidisciplinary approach encompassing painting, sculpture, music, theater, and dance, drawing inspiration from nature. The board of governors, led by President Dan Schweiker, expressed regret over the closure, stating they fought for the school's survival but were unable to reach an agreement. The school is currently working on a transfer agreement with the Design School at Arizona State University's Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts to allow students to continue their studies. The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, which owns the Taliesin estate in Spring Green, Wisconsin, and Taliesin West in Scottsdale, Arizona, will cease financial support. The school's alumni include apprentices who worked on Wright's iconic projects such as Fallingwater and the Guggenheim Museum.
