Frank Gehry to Design New LVMH Cultural Center in Paris

architecture-design · 2026-05-05

Bernard Arnault's LVMH group announced on March 8, 2017, the creation of a new cultural center in Paris called Maison LVMH – Arts -Talents Patrimoine. The building will be designed by Frank Gehry, who also designed the nearby Fondation Louis Vuitton. It will be built by renovating an 11-story monolith designed by architect Jean Dubuisson in the 1970s, which has been disused since 2005. LVMH will finance the complete removal of asbestos before construction begins. The center will include temporary exhibition and event spaces, a large restaurant area, and a section dedicated to craftsmanship. The project is estimated to take five years and cost €158 million. However, the building's proximity to the Bois de Boulogne may cause delays; Arnault and his team must submit full project documentation to the authorities by the end of March. This announcement follows François Pinault's April 2016 plan to open a new cultural center in Paris at the Bourse de Commerce, renovated by Tadao Ando and directed by Martin Bethenod.
