François Pinault's Paris Museum Delayed to September Due to Coronavirus
The opening of François Pinault's private museum at the Bourse de Commerce in Paris has been postponed from June to September 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The museum, designed by architect Tadao Ando, will feature 3,000 square meters of exhibition space, a 300-seat auditorium, and rooms for video installations, performances, and experimental projects. Directed by Martin Bethenod, former director of Palazzo Grassi and Punta della Dogana in Venice, the museum aims to have a strong educational and pedagogical vocation, with a multidisciplinary program blending visual arts, music, theater, literature, and cinema. The restoration was led by Tadao Ando Architect and Associates (TAAA), in collaboration with Pierre-Antoine Gatier, an architect specializing in heritage conservation, along with NeM (Lucie Niney and Thibault Marca) and SETEC Costruzioni. The delay is part of broader closures across France, including the Louvre, Musée d'Orsay, and Palais de Tokyo, and the cancellation or postponement of events such as Paris Manga, the Salon du Livre, and Drawing Now Paris.
