Franco Vimercati's Photographic Series at Raffaella Cortese
The gallery Raffaella Cortese in Milan is presenting three black-and-white photographic series by Franco Vimercati (Milan, 1940–2001) across its different spaces. The exhibition includes 99 shots of a soup tureen (1983–92), amniotic capovolte (photographs of everyday objects shown upside down as the photographic process renders them), and summer portraits from Sulle Langhe. The works explore simultaneity of split and identity, positive distance uniting subjectivity and objectivity, and a gestation of the gaze that disrupts time between present and past. The exhibition runs until September 9, 2016, at Via Stradella 1/4/7, Milan.
