Franco Albini Foundation Reopens in Milan with Olympic Installation

institutional · 2026-04-26

The Franco Albini Foundation has reopened its doors at Via Saffi 27 in Milan, close to its previous site. The Albini Archive, designated as National Historic Heritage in 2002, is now housed in this new venue, which includes 22,000 drawings, over 6,000 photographs, and 2,500 slides. Among its significant artifacts are the 1950 Margherita armchair and the 1964 Compasso d'Oro-winning handrail from Milan's red metro line. Under the leadership of Paola Albini, the foundation advocates for Albini's five principles. The first exhibition, "Milano Cortina, Andata e Ritorno: 1956-2026," will showcase a recreated totem for the 1956 Cortina Olympics, opening on March 12. Additionally, guided tours, silent book nights, workshops, and AI courses will commence on February 12.
