Franck Riester and Luis Sepúlveda Test Positive for Coronavirus

French Minister of Culture Franck Riester has tested positive for the coronavirus and is self-isolating at his home in Paris. His condition is not a cause for concern. Riester, who has led the Ministry of Culture since 2018, attended a Council of Ministers meeting last Wednesday and accompanied President Emmanuel Macron to Italy two weeks ago for a meeting with Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and President Sergio Mattarella. A government source stated that the same precautionary measures apply to ministers as to all French citizens. In Spain, Chilean writer Luis Sepúlveda, author of the bestseller 'The Story of a Seagull and the Cat Who Taught Her to Fly', has also tested positive. He is hospitalized in the infectious diseases unit of the Central University Hospital of Asturias in Oviedo, having developed symptoms two days after returning from a literary festival in Portugal. His wife, poet Carmen Yáñez, has also tested positive and is hospitalized.
