Francisco Fonseca Paints Houses as Portraits of Their Inhabitants

Illustrator Francisco Fonseca, also known as _francis.co, hails from Paço de Sousa, Portugal. In 2018, he obtained a master’s degree in Drawing from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Porto and has since dedicated himself to illustration full-time, gaining over one million followers. His artwork features houses, which he views as reflections of the individuals who inhabited them, emphasizing culture, memory, and personal narratives rather than just architectural design. This thematic focus is inspired by his exploration of local myths and legends, aiming to amplify the voice of his village and connect generations to safeguard cultural heritage. Additionally, Fonseca established Porta 98, co-founded Garden Skate Co., creates murals throughout Porto, and offers an online course via Domestika.
