Francesco Vezzoli Reimagines Gufram's Iconic Cactus for Design Miami

festival-fair · 2026-04-26

Francesco Vezzoli's exclusive "Fiore di Cactus" coat rack is set to launch at Design Miami, taking place from December 3 to 7, 2025, at the Miami Beach Convention Center. This piece showcases a three-dimensional rose motif, inspired by a 1969 film featuring Ingrid Bergman and Walter Matthau. Only 30 units will be produced, in collaboration with American developer Ray, who has recently finished a project in Phoenix, Arizona. The original Cactus design was created by Franco Mello and Guido Drocco in 1972, with notable reinterpretations including the giant inflatable "God" by Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari at the 2015 Venice Biennale. The 20th anniversary of Design Miami will also highlight Alcova and Constanza Vallese's "Fonderia Fendi," under the theme "Make. Believe."
