Francesco Vezzoli curates Casa Iolas at Galleria Tommaso Calabro in Milan
From September 25, 2020, to January 16, 2021, Galleria Tommaso Calabro in Milan will host "Casa Iolas. Citofonare Vezzoli," curated by Francesco Vezzoli, who hails from Brescia and was born in 1971. A preview is scheduled for September 24. This exhibition pays tribute to Alexander Iolas (1907–1987), the Greek gallerist known for bringing Surrealism to the United States and for organizing exhibitions featuring Andy Warhol. The show recreates Iolas's residence in Athens across three levels of the gallery, showcasing installations by Filippo Bisagni and artworks from notable artists like Giorgio de Chirico and Man Ray. Vezzoli will also present new sculptures and embroidered pieces, complemented by an illustrated catalog containing an essay by Luca Massimo Barbero.
