Francesco Stocchi appointed director of MAXXI Rome
Francesco Stocchi, originally from Rome and born in 1975, has taken over as the director of MAXXI – National Museum of 21st Century Art in Rome, following Hou Hanrou’s tenure that began in 2013. As reported by Il Foglio, Stocchi is expected to implement major changes to the museum's exhibition lineup, which has faced challenges from both local and administrative pressures. He founded the magazine AGMA in 2010 and became the curator for modern and contemporary art at Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam in 2011. Recently, he has curated notable projects such as Giuseppe Penone: Gestures at Galleria Borghese, Over the threshold: Leandro Erlich in Milan, and the Swiss pavilion at the 59th Venice Biennale in 2022.
