Francesco Manacorda Unveils 2024 Exhibition Program for Castello di Rivoli
Francesco Manacorda, the new director of Castello di Rivoli, presented his vision and the 2024 exhibition program at the Baroque castle near Turin. He aims to transform the museum into a place of belonging, expanding its audience through enhanced education, reopening the restaurant, and fostering international collaborations. The season opens April 20 with Rossella Biscotti's first Italian museum retrospective, followed by a Paolo Pellion di Persano photography show curated by Marcella Beccaria and Andrea Viliani. A partnership with the EXPOSED photography festival is announced. The CRT Foundation collection inspires a three-part exhibition series: "Expanded With" at Castello di Rivoli, "Expanded Without" at OGR Torino (with GAM and OGR), and "Expanded – I Paesaggi dell'arte" at GAM curated by Elena Volpato. Autumn events for the museum's 40th anniversary include a new collection display and Gabriel Orozco's installation "Shade Between Rings of Air" (2003), donated by the artist, in Sala 18 curated by Marcella Beccaria. Manacorda's first curated show, "Mutual Aid – Arte in collaborazione con la natura," opens late October alongside Artissima, featuring Giuseppe Penone and artists from the 1960s onward, particularly Arte Povera. The mayor has nominated Rivoli as a City of Contemporary Art.
