Francesco Jodice's 'What We Want' Opens at Naples Airport

exhibition · 2026-05-04

Naples Airport, in partnership with the Fondazione Donnaregina per le arti contemporanee – Museo Madre and the Associazione Amici del Madre, has inaugurated Francesco Jodice's exhibition 'What We Want' in the boarding lounge. The show features four works from Jodice's ongoing project, begun in 1996, which documents over 170 cities across five continents as a geopolitical atlas. The photographs, recently acquired by the Madre through the Strategia Fotografia 2024 call by the DGCC – Direzione Generale Creatività Contemporanea of the Ministry of Culture, depict São Paulo, Hong Kong, Punta del Este, and Aral. The exhibition includes a pedagogical component: students from the Istituto Comprensivo Oriani-Guarino di San Pietro a Patierno, guided by Jodice and curator Eva Fabbris, participated in a performative workshop and transcribed geopolitical texts onto the wallpaper. The initiative is part of a broader agreement between GESAC, the airport's management company, and the Fondazione Donnaregina. Angela Tecce, President of the Foundation, noted the airport as an ideal venue for Jodice's international research. Eva Fabbris, Director of the Madre, emphasized the museum's focus on contemporary practices. Roberto Barbieri, CEO of GESAC, highlighted the investment in human capital and community engagement.
