Francesco De Grandi Opens Solo Show at Malkasten's Gartenpavillon in Düsseldorf

The twin city agreement between Palermo and Düsseldorf, formalized on March 10, 2016, has fostered cultural exchange through an artist residency organized by the Verein Düsseldorf Palermo (DP) and the Düsseldorf Department of Culture. For its third edition, the residency selected Palermo-born artist Francesco De Grandi (b. 1968). During May 2016, De Grandi created a series of works featuring fairy-tale yet unsettling Nordic landscapes, with mysterious foliage hiding 'fragments of the unknown.' The resulting exhibition, titled 'Fragmente des Unbekannten,' opened on June 7, 2016, at 7 PM at the Gartenpavillon of Malkasten in Düsseldorf and runs until August 28, 2016. The show presents De Grandi's new paintings produced during his stay, offering viewers a glimpse into his creative process through images of the artist at work and exclusive previews of the completed pieces.
