Francesco Clemente's Early Drawings on View at CAMeC La Spezia
Born in Naples in 1952, Francesco Clemente played a crucial role in the resurgence of painting and figuration during the 1980s. While he is linked to the Transavanguardia movement, his artistic journey has been uniquely shaped by his experiences in India since 1973. His relocation to New York further solidified his international acclaim. From 10 October 2026 to 29 March 2027, CAMeC – Centro d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea della Spezia will present 'Francesco Clemente. Il primato del disegno. Opere 1975-1985,' curated by Francesco Guzzetti. This exhibition, part of the 'Oltreconfine. Arte italiana 1968-1989' project, will feature early works, including key self-portraits, with many pieces displayed publicly for the first time in decades.
