Francesca Torzo wins Best Building at Premio Italiano di Architettura 2020

The inaugural Premio Italiano di Architettura, promoted by MAXXI and Triennale Milano with the patronage of the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Tourism, awarded three prizes and a special mention. Francesca Torzo won Best Building Built in the Last Three Years for her expansion of the Z33 House for Contemporary Art, Design and Architecture in Hasselt, Belgium. The project, which opened to the public on May 21 instead of March due to the pandemic, was selected from 31 candidates by an international jury. Lucy Styles, born in 1984 and a long-time member of SANAA, won the Best Designer Under 40 award for her project Home Sweet Home, realized at MAXXI starting July 1 as part of YAP Rome at MAXXI. Cino Zucchi received an Honorable Mention for the Lavazza Headquarters in Turin. Renzo Piano was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for his professional and civic commitment. The winners will be featured in an exhibition at MAXXI in October.
