Francesca Piovesan's 'Uneasy' at Ventura Centrale During Milan Design Week 2019

During Milan Design Week 2019, the group exhibition 'A room of my own' is on view at Ventura Centrale, curated by Sabino Maria Frassà for Cramum, a non-profit platform, in partnership with Ventura Projects. The exhibition features works by Flora Deborah, Giulia Manfredi, and Francesca Piovesan, each creating a room that represents their perspective on reality. Piovesan's series 'Uneasy' consists of five black monochrome canvases coated with a thermochromic pigment developed in London, still experimental. When touched by a hand (at about 27°C), the black veil dissolves to reveal images of female bodies marked by wounds and scars. The artist, born in Aviano, Pordenone in 1981, graduated in Restoration of Mural Paintings at UIA Venice and in Visual Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts Venice. She has exhibited at venues including the State Archives of Treviso, Fondazione Museo Pino Pascali, Magazzino del Sale 3 Venice, PAC Milan, Italian Institute of Culture Budapest, Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Rijeka, and Piramyda Tirana. In 2015 she won the Premio CRAMUM. The curator explains that the work reflects how everyone hides uncomfortable truths within themselves, and that inner warmth allows us to rediscover and face our fears. The exhibition runs from April 9 to 14, 2019.
