Francesca Magnani's Ferry Portraits at Dumbo Photoville
Photoville returned to Brooklyn Bridge Park in September 2018 for two weekends, drawing 95,000 visitors to container-based exhibitions. The maritime-themed edition highlighted NYC Ferry's new service, which had transported six million passengers in 18 months. Italian photographer Francesca Magnani, a contributor to Artribune, presented a series within the festival capturing New Yorkers observing fellow commuters against the metal walls of shipping containers. Magnani has documented street life for 20 years and has been based in New York since 1997.
