Francesca Leone's First Spanish Solo Show at Palacio de Gaviria

exhibition · 2026-05-04

Francesca Leone, born in Rome in 1964, is showcasing her inaugural solo exhibition in Spain titled 'Domus' at Madrid's Palacio de Gaviria, which will be open until November 30, 2018. The exhibition includes approximately twenty artworks crafted from construction waste materials, featuring a prominent 20-meter-long metal frieze and vertical concrete slabs from her 'Monaci' series. A key highlight is 'Our Trash', initially unveiled at the Triennale di Milano in 2015, which consists of a steel grid encased in plexiglass filled with cigarette butts and plastic debris. Leone characterizes her art as 'a denunciation but also a revenge', drawing on Arte Povera influences. Curator Danilo Eccher emphasizes her innovative take on 20th-century artistic traditions. The ground floor is dedicated to her work, while a Tamara de Lempicka retrospective is displayed upstairs.
