Francesca Grilli's workshop at Accademia di Urbino becomes a sound piece

other · 2026-05-05

On December 4 at 5 PM, the Accademia di Belle Arti in Urbino will present a sound work created by artist Francesca Grilli together with students, the result of a workshop held on October 30-31. Titled "Hand, working class," the workshop was inspired by Grilli's 2015 video "Faster than light," currently on view, which explores palm reading as a connection between present and future, with younger participants reading older hands. Curated by Marcello Smarrelli and promoted by Fondazione Ermanno Casoli—stepping outside its usual corporate creative education mission to engage an academic institution—the workshop is part of the project "Arte tra antropologia e orientamento sinestetico" conceived by professor Massimo Vitangeli for the academy. Previous collaborators on this project include curators and artists Filippo Berta, Angel Moya Garcia, Andrea Nacciarriti, and Eugenio Viola. Grilli, born in Bologna in 1978 and based in Amsterdam, studied at ISIA Urbino.
