Francesca Fini Launches De Pink Platform with Blockchain Performance Pink Noise

Francesca Fini, a multidisciplinary Italian cyber artist, performer, and activist, has launched De Pink, a digital platform for performance art that integrates blockchain and crypto art. The first work, Pink Noise, debuted in two parts: the first on April 7, 2021, and the second on April 9, 2021. Fini, a veteran of the International Performance Art Week of Venice and a two-time resident at the Bob Wilson's Watermill Center in New York, created Pink Noise as a solo piece incorporating augmented reality, interactive video with QR codes, and a user-generated collage component. The platform aims to develop new digital performance formats beyond mere streaming, responding to the pandemic's disruption of live events. Fini has sold digital works from Pink Noise via the Verysart platform and through NFTs, using proceeds to fund a call for other artists to propose projects for De Pink. She views blockchain as a democratizing force that allows creators to bypass traditional intermediaries, though she acknowledges challenges like high Ethereum gas fees. Fini emphasizes that digital and live performance can coexist, and she sees beauty as a vital force for renewal after the pandemic.
