Francesca Di Bonito's 'Migrations' at PAN Naples Explores Human Adaptation

exhibition · 2026-05-04

Italian photographer Francesca Di Bonito (b. 1978) presents 'Migrations' at PAN | Palazzo delle Arti di Napoli's Loft space. Based in Paris since 2004, her research examines biological and social processes of bodies in relation to human adaptability, referencing Zygmunt Bauman's 'liquid modernity'. The exhibition features multi-format photographs and a multimedia docufilm 'Lampedusa, ma(d)re mia', which uses wind and sea sounds to convey the fears of migration by small boats. Di Bonito states her work avoids imposing a single viewpoint, instead exploring 'non-truth' and multiple perspectives. After Naples, the show travels to Angle Galerie in Hendaye in October, and from November 8–10 to Carrousel du Louvre, Paris, during Fotofever 2019.
