award · 2026-05-01

The Fourth Plinth Schools Awards 2026 have revealed their winners, with the selected artwork showcased at London’s City Hall until mid-June. This year celebrates a decade of Cass Art's sponsorship of the competition, which recognizes schoolchildren throughout London. Author and illustrator Marion Deuchars, famed for the 'Let's Make Some Great Art' series, served as the judge. The age group winners are: Edith's Balloon Face (5-7, Godwin Junior School, Newham), Anh and Gabriel's Everything (8-11, Pickhurst Academy, Bromley), and Hector's Sabertooth Tiger (12-15, Sutton Grammar School). A total of 51 art material prizes from Cass Art were distributed. Since its inception in 2008, the awards have received over 40,000 entries, with 1,800 submissions this year alone. Notable past judges include Mark Wallinger and Yinka Shonibare CBE. The winners are also available on the Bloomberg Connects app. The Fourth Plinth project is financed by the Mayor of London, alongside backing from Arts Council England and Bloomberg Philanthropies. Currently, Teresa Margolles' Mil Veces un Instante will be displayed until September 2026, after which Tschabalala Self's Lady in Blue will take its place.
