Four Venetian galleries reopen with collective exhibitions during Phase 2

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Nearly a month after Italy's Phase 2 began and the Venice Architecture Biennale was postponed to 2021, four major Venetian art spaces have reopened with group shows that address contemporary issues and future questions. A plus A presents 'Ri-', featuring young painters Giulio Malinverni, Maddalena Tesser, and Bogdan Koshevoy, whose works explore repetition, figuration, and the Renaissance legacy. Galleria Alberta Pane launches 'Share Happiness. Omaggio a Frankenstein', a collaborative project involving seven artists from different Venetian galleries, examining otherness and the monster as a metaphor for societal fears; two further chapters with national and international galleries are planned. Spazio Punch, a former brewery turned nonprofit, hosts 'Pesi Massimi', large-scale paintings by artists from Fondazione Malutta, created during residencies after the November 2019 acqua alta damaged many studios. Galleria Michela Rizzo presents 'Assembramenti', a survey of thirty artists from its roster, including works by Michael Höepfner and Mariateresa Sartori, exploring themes of nature, city, and human flows. The exhibitions reflect a shared urgency to restart and a common curatorial vision across Venice's art scene.
