Four Ukrainian Artists Imagine a Post-Human World in Catania

exhibition · 2026-04-27

The Massimo Ligreggi gallery in Catania, Sicily, presents 'Dissipatio H.G.', a group exhibition curated by Kateryna Filyuk. The title borrows from Guido Morselli's novel, where 'H.G.' stands for 'Humani Generis'. The show features four Ukrainian artists—Yevgen Samborsky, Nazar Bilyk, Lesia Khomenko, and Elena Subach—who, even before the war, critically examined the future of the world. Through different approaches, they poetically explore what remains intact after humanity's disappearance. The exhibition imagines an apocalyptic scenario where everything persists unchanged, bearing only an apparent memory of human-caused disasters. Lost democratic values and senseless massacres—photographic negatives of an unobserved reality—become visible in the works, referencing humanity's destructive imprint. The show runs in 2022.
