Four Swiss Artists Explore Painterly Processes at Kunsthaus Langenthal

exhibition · 2026-05-25

The exhibition 'Tracks and Traces' at Kunsthaus Langenthal features recent works by Izidora | LETHE, Thomas Hauri, Christelle Kahla, and Anastasia Pavlou, each occupying two or three rooms. LETHE (born 1987, Zurich) presents two new works, including the corridor-filling mural '(im pure) GLOWS' created by seven contributors using paint sprayers in rhythm with their breath, with blue gradations referencing the Langete river and contrasting brown speckles. Her 'DELUGE' series references Leonardo da Vinci's Deluge drawings (c. 1515). Thomas Hauri (born 1974, Basel) uses watercolor on large laid paper, often on the floor, with water reactivating dried layers; his 12 works, mostly new, are arranged across three rooms, with hanging referencing Langenthal's flood infrastructure. Christelle Kahla (born 1994, Lausanne) uses airbrush stencils from symbolic objects like chains, jewelry, and corsets, exploring desire and control; her large canvases are stretched directly on walls, and small-format 'Fragments of Intimacies (The Nudes series #1–19)' forms a band around Room 2. Anastasia Pavlou (born 1993, Basel) exhibits two paintings in one room, emphasizing process and chance with oil paint, water, and charcoal, and in another room shows analog photographs from her studio that reproduce large paintings in small black-and-white fragmented form. The exhibition is curated by Raffael Dörig and Marius Quiblier.
