Four Roof House by TW Ryan Architecture on Cliff Over Seeley Lake
TW Ryan Architecture has completed the Four Roof House, a single-story residence perched on a cliff overlooking Seeley Lake in Helmville, Montana, USA. Designed in 2022, the 5,000-square-foot home prioritizes durability, low maintenance, and long-term habitability in a remote setting. The project responds to a demanding climate, including temperature variations of up to 30 degrees, wildfire exposure, and heavy snowfall, through an integrated approach encompassing form, materiality, and performance. The design team was led by Thomas Ryan, with Luigi Grosso as project manager, and interior design by Douglas Durkin Design. The general contractor was Lohss Construction, with structural engineering by Salvetech and MEP engineering by Energy 1. The house features products from Duravit, Toto, Dornbracht, Duratherm Windows, Kohler, Maiden Stone, Speakman, and Sun Valley Bronze. Photographs were taken by Joe Fletcher Photography. The project was curated by Susanna Moreira and published on ArchDaily.
