Four Rome gallery shows reopen after lockdown
As Italian cultural venues reopen post-Covid, four Rome galleries present new exhibitions. At Gagosian, Stanley Whitney previews three works from his Bertacca Series, created in a village near Parma and inspired by free jazz and Abstract Expressionism. Dorothy Circus Gallery hosts Rafael Silveira's 'Metaforamorfoses,' a Portuguese wordplay on metaphor and metamorphosis, blending magical realism with references to Bosch, Dalí, and Guston. Galleria Richter Fine Art presents a dual solo show by Katarina Janeckova and Jay Miriam, exploring affection and imagination through neo-expressionist and post-romantic themes. Galleria La Nica's group show 'Resilienza' features nine Italian and international artists responding to quarantine with new works in diverse media, from abstract painting to 3D-printed sculpture.
