Four Public Art Installations to See in New York Parks This Summer
New York City's public art offerings are expanding with new installations across four boroughs. In Manhattan's Madison Square Park, Spanish artist Cristina Iglesias presents 'Landscape and Memory' (through December 4), a bronze sculpture with recirculating water evoking a historical stream. In Brooklyn Bridge Park, the Public Art Fund curates 'Black Atlantic,' featuring works by Kiyan Williams, Hugh Hayden, Tau Lewis, Leilah Babirye, and Dozie Kanu addressing the African diaspora. At Queens' Socrates Sculpture Park, Hélio Oiticica's unrealized 1971 work 'Subterranean Tropicália Projects: PN15 1971/2022' is executed for the first time, alongside Maren Hassinger's 'Steel Bodies.' The Bronx's New York Botanical Garden launches 'Around the Table,' commissioning 25 local artists to create picnic tables celebrating food plants and cultural diversity.
