Four New Books on Piero Manzoni Published by His Foundation

publication · 2026-05-04

The Fondazione Piero Manzoni, directed by Rosalia Pasqualino di Marineo, has released four new publications on the artist Piero Manzoni (1933–1963). The most substantial is "Piero Manzoni. Nuovi studi" (Carlo Cambi, €18), a 250-page collection of fourteen essays covering topics from material analysis to Manzoni's connections with the Netherlands and Japan. Raffaella Perna's monograph "Piero Manzoni e Roma" (Electa, €24) explores his relationship with Rome from 1955 to posthumous tributes in 1969. The catalogue "Piero Manzoni: The Twin Paintings" (Hauser & Wirth, €22) focuses on two "heterozygous twin" Achromes from around 1959, from the collection of Pasquale Senatore in Stuttgart. Finally, Andrea Cortellessa's "Monsieur Zero. 26 lettere su Manzoni, quello vero" (Italosvevo, €14) presents 26 letters blending literary and scholarly approaches, with a cover by Maurizio Ceccato. These releases demonstrate ongoing international debate about Manzoni, moving beyond his infamous "Artist's Shit" cans.
